🌸 Billet de sortie "N1c(b)": still waiting on the return of 7. Thank you for those that have already been returned.
🌸 Returned a N1c, N1d & PR1a assignment to review and get signed by a parent. Please return for tomorrow. Thank you.
🌸 French writing for this week: Students are using their organigramme (information on the person that they respect) for their biography that they are writing up this week. Some students did not have their information with them today. Please remember to have the information on hand for tomorrow's class and writing period. Thank you. (The assignment will be completed by Friday.)
🌸 "Branding Days" reading comprehensions: Still waiting on the return of 5. Thank you for those that have already been returned signed.
🌸 Étude de mots: use "letters" to make words using individualized word list. Spelling test is Friday.
🌸 Math: Students are to practice their x2, x4, x8, x3, x6, x10, x5, x9, x7math facts (multiplication) for 10 minutes. Parents can assist their child using dice, cards, etc.
These are the outcomes that we are continuing to work on this week:
N1a: "Read and write whole numbers to 1 000 000."
N1b: "Describe personal referents for large benchmark numbers (100, 1000, 10 000, 100 000, 250 000, 500 000, 750 000, 1 000 000)."
N1c: "Flexibly express numbers in a variety of ways, including expanded notation."
N1d: "Describe the value of number digits and the pattern of place value."
Today's specific math homework: Most students have finished the worksheet that reviews more N1 concepts (the other side of the number line work). Please have it completed by tomorrow if not already done so. Thank you.
🌸 "Carnet French Reading": For the period of Oct. 17th - 23rd , there should be a total of 5 readings of 15 minutes done over 5 different days (see the short explanation on the right under "Items of note".) Carnet needs to be handed in completed on Monday, October 24th. Thank you.
🌸 Science: "La météo" (Weather).
- Students are collecting weather data using the following websites: (copy and paste into a new web browser to access sites)
http:www.meteo.gc.ca/index_f.html and
http:www.meteomedia.ca
Today is our last collection date. The collection sheet is to be turned in tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 18th, showing a total of 10 entries and then this assignment will be completed. For the students who have not completed 10 entries, they will continue recording each day (including weekends now), until the 10 entries are done. Thank you.
🌸 Science: "Weather Report" project. Today, students were given class time to begin clarifying and putting together a draft of the write-up of their weather report on the city and day that they collected their information (I believe the information was collected on Oct. 13th). I have uploaded a copy of a weather report that I wrote a few years back to serve as a guideline as to what this looks like. The report uses the information from my organigramme. (*Each child should understand what the requirements are for this project as much discussion about this has been done over the last few days.)
For Thurday's presentations (Oct. 20th), students can also include props to make their weather report even more interesting. This is a French/Science, cross-curricular assignment
