🌸 Since tomorrow afternoon we will see a movie for our Slumber Party, students have been invited to bring in a DVD of a "G-rated Christmas movie" (animated or not) to enjoy. It will be decided tomorrow morning, which movie will be presented to our class. Students are allowed to bring in an extra drink, the popcorn will be provided - it will be a bit salty, (an alternate acceptable snack can be brought in if popcorn is not good for you), and a pillow, stuffed animal, or blanket. Please remember to wear your PJs. It should be fun!
🌸 One outstanding library book to be returned by tomorrow. On behalf of Mrs. Law, thank you!
🌸 I am waiting on the return of 3 report card envelopes and 2 comment forms; 3 reviewed and signed summative assessments: "Les statistiques"; 8 "Math project with a Double Bar graph", and 8 "Un animal dangereux" (inferencing assessment). Thank you to all who have already turned theirs in.
🌸 Math: We are now exploring "Estimation" outcomes. Many have finished their "Spending Project" using estimation strategies.
Here are the N2 outcomes that we are examining over the next few weeks:
N2a) Use compatible numbers to estimate a sum or product in a variety of contexts, including those in which overestimating is important.
N2b) Use compensation to estimate the solution to a problems with a variety of context, including those in which overestimating is important.
N2c) Use front-end rounding to estimate in a variety of contexts and all four operations, including those in which overestimating is important.
N2d) Select and use an efficient estimation strategy for a given problem (including but not limited to compatible numbers, compensation, and front-end rounding).
Today's specific math homework: none, unless review of strategies is needed
🌸 Social Studies: "Ancient Societies - La Nubie". We are examining and making inferences on how their environment influenced their way of life.
